What to know:
Experience:
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia and have been working in the field of Mental Health for over 12 years. I received a Bachelor of Psychology as well as a Master of Science in Community Counseling from the University of North Georgia.
I have experience working with children and adults of all ages, with individuals, families and couples. I have worked in a variety of therapeutic venues, including county mental health, Mental Health Court in multiple counties, couples and family therapy in private practice and children and adolescents in community-based services. Additionally, my professional experience includes working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, addictive diseases, adjustment disorders and sexual and intimacy issues.
Modality:
I use a variety of techniques to assist individuals and families to reach personal and familial goals and overcome setbacks. I enjoy working with teenagers and their families to promote good communication and establish appropriate roles and boundaries within the family system. With adults, I prioritize the individual’s needs and capabilities to guide the therapeutic process. With young adults, I emphasize the importance of self-actualization and confidence, as well as appropriate relationship boundaries. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy with teenagers and adults, encouraging clients to include all aspects of life within the therapeutic process. I am also particularly drawn to working with the LGBTQ+ community through their developing journey, combating struggles with support, acceptance and interpersonal relationships.
